Hello! I’m Annette Proctor, an empathetic and responsive counsellor based in East Kilbride. I offer a safe, non-judgemental, and confidential space where you can explore whatever is on your mind, at your own pace and in your own way. My approach is integrative, blending psychodynamic and person-centred therapies to support your unique journey and help you connect with your most authentic self. It’s important to me to follow your lead.

I believe meaningful change happens when we begin to live more in alignment with who we truly are. Together, we’ll gently explore and begin to let go of beliefs, defences, or patterns that may no longer serve you. Sometimes, simply saying something out loud is all that's needed; other times, it calls for deeper reflection. You’ll always decide what we work through and when you feel ready to share.

I specialise in supporting:

  • Neurodivergent clients, working in a way that honours each individual’s unique way of processing, communicating, and experiencing the world

  • Individuals working through trauma, including physical, sexual, and developmental trauma

  • New parents, navigating the many emotional and relational shifts of early parenthood—from stress, identity changes, and anxiety to sleep challenges and shifting dynamics with partners

A Little About Me

Before training as a counsellor, I spent 15 years working in the entertainment industry. While that world was creative and fast-paced, I realised I wanted something that felt more aligned with who I am. I’ve always been deeply curious about mental health, so I followed that passion and earned my Master’s in Counselling from the University of Edinburgh. I haven’t looked back since, supporting others through emotional growth has become my true calling.

Outside of my work, I share life with my husband, our son, and our dog. I find joy and balance in family adventures—whether we’re hiking in Scotland’s hills, travelling somewhere new, or enjoying a quiet evening together. I’m also a devoted theatre-goer, an avid reader, and I love swimming. These interests bring me inspiration, creativity, and perspective that I carry into my therapeutic work.

My Qualifications & Approach

I hold a Master’s of Counselling from the University of Edinburgh and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP). My integrative approach brings together the depth of psychodynamic therapy with the flexibility and presence of person-centred work. Together, we’ll explore how your past may be shaping your present, and discover new ways of being that feel more grounded, connected, and true to you.

Deciding to begin therapy is a courageous and meaningful step. If my approach resonates with you, I invite you to book a free 20‑minute introductory session, by phone or online. There’s no pressure, just a chance to connect, ask questions, and see if we might be a good fit.

I offer online and in-person sessions. In-person sessions are available in East Kilbride on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, and Glasgow on Mondays & Thursdays.
